A member of the Starling family, Great Myna are
also known as White-vented Myna. This is
confusing because that is also the common name
of the Javan Myna. They are found from N.E. India
to S.E. Asia, in humid open and semi-open habitats.
They are not migratory, and can live from four
to fourteen years in the wild. They breed from
April to July, and nest in tree holes and the roofs
of buildings. They lay four to six eggs. The young
are nourished by the female. They are omnivorous,
and will eat fruit, reptiles, insects, baby birds,
small rodents, and human trash.
